The EIT Governing Board designated as future EIT KIC UM the proposal MOBILUS coordinated by Ajuntament de Barcelona.
The EIT announced the two winning Knowledge Innovation Communities (KICs) in Urban Mobility and Smart Manufacturing in Budapest, Hungary: the MOBILUS Consortium, with nearly 50 members from 15 countries led by the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Spain), was designated as “EIT KIC Urban Mobility”; and, as future “EIT KIC Manufacturing”, Made in Europe Consortium won the call with 50 partners from 17 countries involved and coordinated by University of Patras (Greece). The Urban Mobility Colocation Centers will be based in Barcelona, Prague, Helmond, Munich, and Copenhagen.
Regrettably, the eseia led WeMove2Zero proposal was not retained for funding. Among the strengths identified by reviewers were the innovative approach of WeMOve2Zero and the designed activities integrating research, education, and innovation, as well as the potential impact. Among the weaknesses identified by reviewers was the fact that the WeMove2Zero Consortium was unevenly balanced as the Austrian Co-location Centre partnership was a lot stronger than the other parts.
The eseia Focus Group Smart Mobility will exploit the valuable WeMove2Zero partnership for a great number of alternative options. Please refer to the news item reporting about the last meeting of the group in early December 2018.
