Exploring the unbeaten paths of innovation is at the core of EIT´s Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC). Therefore, to win EIT´s call on Urban Mobility (UM) for a smart, green and integrated urban transport, participants will have to think out of the box in order to win the 400 Mio. € funding available for the next 7 years, starting from 2019.
EIT´s Information Day on the 2018 Calls for Proposals, held in Brussels on 13 February, shed some light on EIT´s the innovation model. EIT´s Thorsten Koenig, Innovation Director, Mathe Fammels, Head of Unit Communications, and Manuel Irun Molina, Programme Officer, advised participants to keep in mind 10 key elements to build a successful KIC-UM proposal:
In line with these principles, eseia developed her KIC-UM proposal “wemove2zero” and participated in the event to gather new insights on the evaluation process and engage potential partners to cooperate with. “wemove2zero” lays down a wheel-like structure in which the fulcrum is defined by an Innovation Hub that coordinates and manages 5 different Co-Location Centres (CLCs), corresponding to 5 different geographical areas and focussed on different aspects of mobility:
The “wemove2zero” consortium will act in synergy with associated partners, such as the Knowledge and Innovation Communities on Climate, Energy, Health and ICT and the civil society.
On 12 July 2018 the KIC-UM Call for Proposals will close and participants will have to wait December 2018 to find out if they have been selected for EIT´s new KIC on Urban Mobility.
